Webinar: Achieving health equity: providing skilled breastfeeding support universally

New and Updated Resources from WHO and UNICEF

In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are hosting a webinar on the importance of skilled lactation support.

The webinar is titled Achieving health equity: providing skilled breastfeeding support universally. It will feature key global leaders who will discuss why investment in skilled breastfeeding support is essential to achieving equitable health outcomes. Its goal is to reach policy and decision makers to reinforce their understanding of the importance of investing in this essential work.

As a component of the webinar, WHO/UNICEF will be releasing several key documents that impact the BFHI and support the implementation of the revised Step 2 (Ensure that staff have sufficient knowledge, competence and skills to support breastfeeding).  These materials include:

  1. Competency verification resources and tools
  2. Updated 20-hour breastfeeding management course
  3. Breastfeeding support for the sick and preterm infant
